Don’t Fall Into Despair

I find my self often falling into despair and having a generally negative outlook about life I think a lot of people do the same thing and this is harmful because it stops a person from progressing. I am not saying people should become blindly optimistic but they should stop being blindly pessimistic because it is just as bad.

The news and social media is often responsible for this so it is good to take breaks and to look around and to give thanks to God for the things you do have as there is probably a lot, it is human nature to want things others have or things you used to have and so it is easy to forget our blessings.

The devil wants people to give up hope to give up faith he wants us all defeated mentally and spiritually so we will then also become physically weak and he will try to wear us down slowly if you have heard that story of the frog that gets boiled really slowly it's along the lines of that. But ignoring these dark thoughts and focusing on the blessings we have, being a realist and having faith in God always will let you escape this I think.

If you fall a thousand times all you have to do is get up a thousand and one. I did a quick search and it was Seneca that said we suffer more in our minds than we do in reality basically we are being too hard on ourselves forgetting to be grateful to God for what we have and have an addiction to negativity - too much "doom scrolling".

Hopefully soon I will get better at writing but I hope this is clear enough. You wouldn't drink poison or eat rotten food so why do you let rotten information into your mind? Don't let it in defend your mind and your soul.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 ESV
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
